Ayaw i-push ang Early Pagburos

All communities, small or big, face this type of problem. Like in our community, cases of teenage pregnancy are increasing. We interviewed some of the young parents and most of their answers will shock you. Well not really shocked but they said that they won’t finish school anymore because they have to work for their upcoming family. And they also reach to a point where they want to abort the baby. In most cases, schoolgirls who become pregnant in rural areas and towns have to either resort to unsafe abortions or face official school expulsion due to pregnancy. Many of them wanted to pursue studying after the pregnancy but it’s gonna be hard since they have a baby that needs to be taken care of.

One of the major impacts of teenage pregnancy is the decline in academic performance because when they are pregnant they miss a lot of schoolwork such as lessons, home work, tests and so forth. Another one is the lack of skills needed to handle their pregnancy and motherhood. We have one example in the community where the young mom usually can’t attend the crying baby because she was too busy scrolling through social media. And last one is depression. We also have cases of teenage pregnancy where young moms experienced depression. All of them are struggling in school and decided to switch to modular learning. And now we realized that it’s very important to establish and implement a program with regard to teenagers and mental health in the community. We recently discovered that there are no mental health programs being implemented in the community. All the more the need to strive hard in order to help the community with regard to this problem.

In conclusion to this article, It was revealed that teenage pregnancy and mothering resulted in poor school performance at the case school and has subsequently led to drop out of school. And now this is our challenge to help the community overcome this problem because we believe as what Dr. Jose Rizal said, “Ang Kabataan ang pag asa ng bayan”.
